SaSo provides strategic financial advice and investment management services to private clients, and Trustees, predominantly resident in the Channel Islands through our full wealth management service.  Our people have many years of experience providing these services within small and large organisations around the world.

Meeku founded SaSo in 2017 with the name inspired by his family. He was born in Zambia, Africa and educated in the UK. For the past 20 years he, and his family, have lived and worked in Jersey.

 

Meeku is our CEO responsible for developing the long-term strategy for SaSo and supporting our Management team in the business development, finance, operations and risk and governance of SaSo as well as managing client relationships in Jersey. Over the years he has created deep relationships with private clients and professionals in the Channel Islands and has extensive experience of owning, managing and operating regulated financial advisory-led organisations having done so since starting in private practice in 2006. Through this time, he has been involved with acquisitions on both sides which has helped frame SaSo to build towards a progressive, relationship-led and dynamic business. 

 

Meeku is a Certified Financial Planner (Level 7) and Chartered Wealth Manager (Level 6) with the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments, as well as member of the Institute of Directors. He also has the Certificate in Compliance from the International Compliance Association. His prior community work has included being a member on the management board, including the Investment Sub Committee, of the Public Employees Contributory Retirement Scheme (PECRS) which serves over 10,000 members and a significant proportion of the Jersey working population.

 

He is married with 2 children and when time allows, he enjoys playing (and watching) various sports and travelling with the family.

Garry is our Managing Director with responsibility across the day-to-day operation of the business, coupled with managing relationships with Private Clients based in Jersey, Guernsey and the UK.

 

Garry moved to Jersey in 2011 to work in an established financial services business. Garry has 23 years experience as a financial advisor and 26 years experience overall in financial services, working as a financial advisor in Jersey (11 years), Guernsey (9 years) and Edinburgh (3 years).

 

Garry holds the Certificate in Pension Transfer Advice (AF7) and Diploma in Financial Planning from The Chartered Insurance Institute along with The Certificate in Advanced Mortgage Advice from The Society of Mortgage Professionals and The Guernsey Insurance Certificate. 

 

Garry has also passed modules of the Institute of Directors (IOD) exams with distinction, namely ‘The Role of the Director & the Board’, ‘Director's Role in Strategy & Marketing’, ‘Leadership for Directors’ and ‘Finance for Non-Financial Directors’, thus achieving the IOD’s Certificate in Company Direction with Distinction.  Garry is currently working towards attaining the IOD Diploma.

 

Garry lives in St Ouen with his young family and loves all sports, especially tennis, however a lot of his spare time in recent years has been spent developing junior chess in Jersey. Garry has helped several Jersey juniors become county champions over the last 11 years and Garry himself is a former Island champion (2014/2015) and has personally represented Jersey and Guernsey in 4 Chess Olympiads (twice for both Islands) and Jersey in two European Small Nations.  Garry has also played in the inter-island Inter-Insular match 14 times (playing 7 times for both islands).

John has been working in the Jersey finance industry for over 30 years.

 

From 1989 to 2007, John worked at the Jersey Financial Services Commission. His time there included various directorships including director of the Financial Services Business Division which was responsible for the implementation and then the administration of the Financial Services (Jersey) Law 1998. Later John was director of the Compliance Division responsible for the on-going regulation of all authorised businesses under the various regulatory Laws. 

​

John also represented Jersey on a number of international bodies including Sub Committees of IOSCO.

 

Since 2007, John has held a number of senior compliance posts in the private sector.

Peter has been involved in investment markets since 1985, working within the private client areas of two global banks and for 22 years as the fixed income specialist for the UK Wealth manager, Brewin Dolphin.  More recently Peter formed part of the investment team at bridport in Jersey specialising in the provision of specialist, income focussed portfolio’s.

 

During his time at Brewin Dolphin, Peter formed part of the Company’s Group Asset Allocation Committee, advising on fixed income and credit markets. He has set-up and managed several Jersey domiciled bond funds on behalf of key clients. 

 

Peter has been involved in helping to establish the London Stock Exchanges UK Retail Bond Market, with an active role on the APCIMs Bond Committee and guest speaker roles at several high-profile LSE events used to promote the Retail Bond Market.  

 

During his career, he has been a Director for R&H Fund Services in relation to BD Portfolios – a range of more than 45 open ended investment companies established on behalf of high net worth clients and was a Non-Executive Director on RAB Capital’s Strategic Range Hedge Funds.

 

Peter is responsible for investment management and strategy.  He is a Chartered Member of the leading professional body for securities, investment, wealth and financial planning professionals, “The Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment” and holds specific qualifications in Bond and Fixed Interest as well as the Investment Advice Diploma.

Daniel Guy, SaSo’s newest recruit, is their new Head of Business Development. He advises clients on their financial planning needs and seeks to develop new relationships with potential investors.

 

Danny, as he likes to be called, is currently studying towards the required set of qualifications, which are geared towards professionals currently advising and/or dealing in securities and derivatives and those advising on packaged products.

 

He is particularly interested in investment analytics; enjoys researching companies to understand their potential and to advise clients on how best to invest and generate future wealth.

 

Danny offers broad experience in portfolio management, having co-managed an extensive, bespoke discretionary portfolio for a large, global financial institution.

 

Outside of work, Danny is a keen sportsman. During his time in Edinburgh, Danny played American football, and since arriving in Jersey, Danny loves a round of golf and currently represents Jersey in softball.  Danny and his partner, Lauren, are also big dog lovers and own a Rhodesian Ridgeback called Cooper.

Euan is our 'home grown' Financial Advisor at SaSo and joined the team in January 2020 having previously held an internship at the Jersey branch of a multi-national private investment bank and more recently being employed as a Relationship Manager for a Fintech company also based on-island. 

 

Euan moved to Jersey when he was 3 and was educated at Victoria College, furthering his studies by obtaining a BSc (Hons) in International Financial Services through the Jersey International Business School. Euan has therefore become well accustomed to Island life so will be well suited to the servicing of local clients.  

 

Euan has successfully  completed the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments (CISI) Investment Advice Diploma (IAD) qualification and is a member of the International Compliance Association. In his spare time Euan plays rugby for the Jersey Reds Athletic and can often be found at the Stade Athletic in St Peter on a Saturday if not representing the Jersey Reds’ amateur side in England.

Deborah Sappe

Deborah has lived in Jersey since she was 10 months old and was educated at Beaulieu Convent. Since leaving school at the age of 18, she has worked almost exclusively in the Finance Industry in a variety of areas including Customer Credit, Reporting, Dealing and Settlement, Marketing, Client Administration and Private Banking and Investment.

 

Feeling they wanted to experience something different and take a break from finance, Deborah and her husband owned and ran Classic Tea Room in St Peter for 7 years from February 2014 until April 2021, experiencing all aspects of running a hospitality business from food production, front of house, reporting, payroll, book-keeping and more.

 

Deborah lives in St Peter with her husband and they have 2 children and 2 grandchildren. In her spare time she enjoys cooking, going for (short!) walks, travel, and spending time with the family.
