Garry Forbes

Garry is our Managing Director with responsibility across the day-to-day operation of the business, coupled with managing relationships with Private Clients based in Jersey, Guernsey and the UK.
 
Garry moved to Jersey in 2011 to work in an established financial services business.  Garry has 27 years experience as a financial advisor and 30 years of experience overall in financial services, working as a financial advisor in Jersey (15 years), Guernsey (9 years) and Edinburgh (3 years).
 
Garry holds the Certificate in Pension Transfer Advice (AF7), Diploma in Financial Planning and Discretionary Investment Management paper (J10) examinations issued by he Chartered Insurance Institute along with The Certificate in Advanced Mortgage Advice from The Society of Mortgage Professionals and The Guernsey Insurance Certificate. 
 
Garry has also passed modules of the Institute of Directors (IOD) exams with distinction, namely ‘The Role of the Director & the Board’, ‘Director's Role in Strategy & Marketing’, ‘Leadership for Directors’ and ‘Finance for Non-Financial Directors’, thus achieving the IOD’s Certificate in Company Direction with Distinction.  Garry is currently working towards attaining the IOD Diploma.
 
Garry lives in St Ouen with his young family and loves all sports, particularly tennis and padel, however a lot of his spare time in recent years has been spent developing junior chess in Jersey. Garry has helped several Jersey juniors become county champions between 2011 and 2023, who subsequently went on to represent the full island team. 
 
Garry himself is a former Island chess champion (2014/2015) and Joint Channel Island chess Champion (2022/23) and has also been island chess blitz champion (2023) and island chess rapidplay champion (2023 and 2025) and has personally represented Jersey and Guernsey in 6 Chess Olympiads and Jersey in 3 European Small Nations Team Events.
 
Garry represented Guernsey in Calvia, Majorca, Spain (2004) and Turin, Italy (2006) and then represented Jersey in Tromso, Norway (2014), Baku, Azerbaijan (2016), Chennai, India (2022) and Budapest, Hungary (2024). 
 
Garry has also represented Jersey in three European Small Nations (ESNA) Team Events in Monaco (2013) and Guernsey (2015) and when Jersey hosted the ESNA Team event at the Pomme D’or in Jersey during October / November 2023 when Storm Ciaran was in full force.
 
Garry has also been fortunate enough to play in the inter-island Inter-Insular chess match 19 times (playing 7 times for Guernsey from 2004-2011 and 12 times for Jersey between 2013 and 2025).
