Jersey’s Future Tennis Stars Enjoy The opportunity of Inter-Club Competition

The Jersey Tennis Association recently hosted the second annual Jersey Inter-Club Tennis Tournament which, this year, invited more than 80 young tennis superstars of the future to compete against other tennis players of their age but from other clubs.

While in its second year, the idea is a new one. For a long time, Jersey’s young tennis players were only able to play against other players in their club. Now, thanks to the Inter-Club tournament, young players are now able to compete against other players in their age category from other local clubs.

Being able to compete with more players from different clubs really helps to enhance and improve these young players' technique and style and will only go to help them develop into even better tennis players.

Eighty children competed in the Under 10’s, Under 12’s and Under 14’s competitions this year and were able to compete against children from three other, local tennis clubs.

This tournament has been sponsored by SaSo Strategic in accordance with its ongoing sponsorship of the Jersey Junior Tennis initiatives. Garry Forbes, Managing Director of SaSo Strategic added, “The Inter-Club tournament is a great opportunity for the islands juniors who are members of the 3 or 4 tennis clubs that we have on the island to play each other in a team format, though in a friendly environment.

SaSo Strategic are proud to support the Inter-Club tennis initiative and we are grateful to the organisers of this event. It was great to see The Tennis Hub, Grainville and Caesarean represented in the finals on Sunday 9th October 2022 at Caesarean Tennis club. where the matches were played in a great spirit and where junior tennis on the island was the real winner.”

SaSo Strategic, the Tournament’s sponsors were delighted to present the prizes to the winners in each category at a prizegiving which took place on 10 October 2022.

Here are a few highlights from the competition itself.

Following the success of this year’s tournament, it is hoped that the organisers can develop the tournament further by inviting players from France and Guernsey to participate in future competitions. What’s more, subject to further funding, the Association would love to offer the opportunity to local players to visit Guernsey and France to compete in their respective tournaments too.
